"At exactly 5:30 pm, the ship's captain, Brigadier/General Itzhak Shoshan, called out to Sergeant Frisher and me.
His terror-stricken call at that moment not only ended our routine and tranquility, but also the life of 47 of our sailors..

Two hours after this alarm, the sea had already claimed the battleship Eilat for eternity and we began our journey for survival on this infamous night."
.......................................................................
"Report immediately to Haifa that we were hit by a missile"
Then the alarm bells started to howl.

We jump, Frisher and me toward the radio and at the same moment there was a loud blast and the room shook as if the ship collided with an iron wall..."
.......................................................................

"We missed the party, Moshe" he said (Moshe and Arye were planning to spend time together in the city this night).
I couldn't see his face clearly but he smiled. He always smiles, the son of
a gun.
"Are you ok?" I asked just to say something. Instead of an answer he suddenly ran and jumped from the top of the rail to the water.
We found out what happened immediately: The lifeboat with the wounded got detached and started to float away. Arye swam after it as if the devil was behind him...
......................................................................
The captain urged us again: "Start throwing everything that can float.

I am now giving the command to desert the ship.
Try to stay within the light circle that the moon creates in the water, so it will be easier to find you..." What a party pooper!

There was silent.
The meanings of his words suddenly hit us...
